Groovin ET II Simex

Hi All

Been a while swamped with work and business travel.....

Anyone has re-grooved or rethread (not use if it is the right technical term) an ET II Simex for better mud self cleaning abilities.

As you all know the ET II has an additional central lug should this be rethreaded.
I am also concerned not to be able to balance these tyres (already hard to balance as such) after rethreading.

Please Advise.

We don't tend to balance Simex over here. Never seem to have a major problem with them. I was driving on them everyday at up to 80mph with no probs.

Have a mate in Netherlands that re-cut his ET2's. Reckons it could take you three days to do it. I will bring this thread to his attention.

Hi There,
As James already said i have done the cutting of a complete set Simexes,ET2. It is a lot of work but i am very satisfied with the result. I cut out several blocks next to the center line. The center lugs stayed un touched because that's the running line of the tire,but the row next to it have been cut a way,on each side.
The result is a very open tire with great self cleaning abilitys.
As for balancing i haven't done this,yet. I think maybe when i but them on the other rims i wil. But i have to say the same as James these tires a driving good on the road. At least if you consider that it is a real off-road tire. Cutting is done with an electric speciall groover. After that i did some grinding with a very special band grinder what gives it a very good looking tire and the mean reason was to take of the same amount of rubber evey where and with that electric cutter it isn't that easy as it sounds. But i guess it was a good try. Maybe a better solution would be to buy just some Boggers then you wouldn't have spend so much time cutting the tire.

Hi Bowy,ja ben al langer op deze forum pagina als wel op andere. De Def is nog steeds in de schuur maar de onderdelen komen er aan zo het begint. Veel gebeurd goed en slecht,zien waar het schip strand.

Did not know it was you....we have talked extensively I own the yellow disco in Lebanon on 36" ET II
Can you send some pics of the grooved tyres?

The Simex do wander on highway driving may the lot being send here is older as they are not much Simex around recently....
