Inside Lucas AMM

Post by ytt105 »

I think I've found the cause of my high fuel consumption!
I took apart my AMM ( a Lucas 5AM) and have found a burnt out resistor.
Great, now all I have to do is find out what value it is and I can fix it.
Can anyone help.
It's R1 on the circuit board, it's physically bigger than any of the others so I can't just take a punt.
Does anyone have an old AMM of a 3.9 circa 93 they can look at for me?

Can you see the colour bands, or is it too blackened to tell? Try giving it a wipe with metho, see if you can see the colours on it, as that will tell you the resistor value. If you can get the colours visible, write them down in order (note the spacing), and head to jaycar... or just take the whole thing to jaycar....

Note R1 doesn't look too good, funny thing is, she goes alright just uses heaps of fuel.

Dont forget - something caused R1 to burn out, you'll need to find this fault as well.
