Broke my aerial...need some advice

Post by Rhiggins »

On the weekend i was offroad and i broke my aerial off(AM/FM radio)...its just a standard metal telescopic one on a hilux surf and i was wondering if it is easy to replace and how you do it?

Would i be better to replace it with the same kind of aerial or is it possible to get a flexible one that is not telescopic?

Cheers

Is there anyway that i can disable my aerial motor until i fix it?. because it makes horrible grinding noises because it is trying to wind up an aerial that does not exist.[/quote]

Pull the wiring plug off. It will be somewhere near the bottom most probably.

If you decide to keep your electric telescopic it is pretty easy to replace the mast...they are available at super cheap in various mast diameter's around 9,10 or 11mm and you just need to turn the radio on undo the nut at the top and fish out the old mast and tail
get the new one ready and feed the tail with the teeth facing the same way as the old one was and turn the radio off
and screw the nut back on
