Re: front diff problems
All depends on whats broke. Is it the Diff? C&P? or the Transfer case?
eh if only it was that easy cant pick up tools yet lol
so i've optioned in the rebuild of the original diff end to end
or
install a GU front diff .... there was a tread about this conversion some where .... not much info though .... so if some one could enlighten us with there wisdom please do "whats involved"

But what are you rebuilding? you dont know what it is yet! could be cheaper than you first thought.
Ask a mate to undo the bolt on the diff to drain it, that will give you an idea if its that. No use doing a GU front diff if its the Transfer case..
if it broke a tooth you would think it would still drive a bit...unless you broke all the teeth off.
stick it in 2wd and try and turn the front driveshaft with hubs locked

"uhhh.....it looks like your up for an air locker, ARB sure know how to rip ya hey"
Thats not fair, they havn't ripped him yet..
Ive never heard of a Nissan airlocker breaking gears.
Airlockers are normally stronger than the components around them unless abused ie. turned on with one wheel spinning.
Give ARB a ring 1st
Remember 4x4 companies also read these forums and things said about companies may influence there decisions to act on a problem.

hahaha yeh i read the thread on the TJ .....
but this is the only trouble i've had with the locker ... still waiting to see if they've opened up the locker yet .... waiting for a car to get home so
i can go for a look ... breakages are all part of the game
unless its bodgy work ....
so if parts are available ... dare say i'll be waiting a while for them
took them 1+half months to fix my compressor .... "week turn around"
so after this front diff should be sorted out, just need some cheezy CV's ..... any one know hows his buisness is going?

Terrafirna how many times have you driven your ute up around those rock formations a Mt Louisa.
Just thinkin how much transmission wind up you would've stressed it with over the last 12 months.
I bet transfer.

Yeah sorry what I mean't is that yeah you have driven heaps around up there and a lot of it is high traction surfaces where you are going to load up the drive line even if you don't use alot of hammer.
And yeah you drive quite sensibly so I wouldn't say it was shock loading but the effects of wind up.
You still haven't found the prob yet though so I am guessing.
The GU isn't going to get lockers I have decided. No point in trashing the family wagon but I have another plan.
One I have to give the GU to the missus daily driver (not happy jan if you saw our second cars condition you would cry for the GU. My missus and mecahnical action are the reason that we have oxymorons).
I get to sell her car and with a bit of cash I have stashed buy and build a registered semi comp/offroad play thing.
I am stalling because I am loath to give the GU up becuase it will be rooted in 12 months from running around town and being bingled into everthing thats my missus reckons wont hurt the truck.
Plus moving to perth in November.
Might be looking at a CREB TK trip around Sept too...Dpends on XRCC and if is a goer in NSW as the web site doesn't have anything on it. I gets this funny feeling that DM is losing interest or that something behind the scenes will happen soon.
