well u should be a mind reader, i am...sorry, yeah i asked about 3 weeks ago with not one reply. the question was; is it LEGAL to place a sheet of 1.6mm sheet steel over the back of a wagon chop with an open (square mesh fencing stuff 4mm thick barry stuffas "window") the sheet would be reinforced with 75x25x2 RHS and an internal roll cage. it will also have a rollbar on the outside braced to chassis. the chop has allready happened and it has the old back door inplace with huge gaps down the side, im lookin for easy not pretty, its my bush pig not daily driver. but it is unregistered as it hasnt been on the road for quite some time.

theres another problem, in queensland engineers mean shit all to mermaids (queensland transport). i have spoken to queensland transport 2 times today 10 minutes apart and they both said a different thing:
1st said it will be fine aslong as there is no chance of injury from flailing limbs in an accident.
2nd said it is illegal to have it open at all even with bracing and the cage shit at the back. i promptly said "so how do soft top sierras become road legal vehicles from manufacture?" to which i got a very pissed off, "that is manufacturers standards, they are different and undergo testing." "iw ill undergo this testing if it will mean the car will be legal and others can therefore do the same." "no that is not possible, testing costs thousands of dollars and is alot more complicated than turning up and testing." to which i just said goodbye and hung up.
queensland transport dont even know there own rules, its bloody annoying and i think most people who have dealt with them will agree. i was transfered 4 times to speak to the operator the first time and had to direct the second one of who i needed to speak to.
sorry enough of a rant, ill just completely enclose it and make them happy.
sorry guys
Evan
