How long do the red & yellow top Optimas last?

Post by Maxtd5def »

Coz I can't remember when mine went in. Could be 5 or 6 years ago. How long have they been around?

Now mine aren't quite holding a full charge overnight. Thinking of changing them before winter. Unless anyone has been running these things for longer?

Regards

I had a orange top that lasted 8 months :bad-words: not good for a premium priced battery.

It was replaced with a yellow top FOC.

Red tops are around $300, yellow tops around $400 Blue tops are similar to yellow.

I have had a red top since 1997, on a very infreqently driven diesel. It was joined up (bolted together) to a newer one in about 2002, so yes, I did everything wrong.

The older one is pretty dead now, but will still start a suzuki quite well if it is well charged.

The newer one still runs my G perfectly, but as a single, it does struggle to run an engel when camping.

I would never fit or recommend anything else. They just do what they say on the box.
