Can anyone tell me if they have any slop in the back of the gearbox where the drive shaft spins in?
It is a fitting on the back of the gearbox that can be replaced. This could be the reason for all the geabox/drivetrain vibration I am getting, coming from the worn output of the gearbox.
I have replaced almost everything else in the vehicle and this is about the last thing I am willing to try. I would appreciate it if I can get some feedback from as many as people as possible.
Thanks.
Just a note:
- driveshaft rebuilt
- replaced geartbox (might have done more work than wrecker said )
- all new mounts
- rebuilt engine
- castor wedges to correctly angle diff. (after new springs)
- no abnormal worn noise from any bearings in wheels/gearbox/diff

I believe that if it is a front to back slop then it is the pinion gear in the diff. Maybe a crush sleeve or worn bearing. If it is rotational it's gear backlash. All diffs have a certain amount of backlash set into them. If it is more than about .010" then ring and pinion are worn.rowdy24 wrote:Can anyone tell me if they have any slop in the back of the gearbox where the drive shaft spins in?
Did you have the drive shaft balanced after rebuilding with U joints?
Of course the Feroza has slip joints but I don't think that the Rocky does...what do you own?...duh just noticed your sig.
