my turn !!
top week end !!
got there thursday , left monday !
had about 10 hours sleep for the whole time there !! :?

walked the mystery nigt stage , b4 anyone drove it , & thought "easy" , but was quite amazed how much grief it caused !!
(Red B!tch broke a mog diff !!!)

as for TOO many marshalls on stages ,
the ramp , we only had 3 marshalls !!!
head marshall , & 2 for measuring !!!
(I was also organising line up , tyre pressures & measuring at the same time !!!)
so thats about 2 more marshalls we could of had !!!! :P

NOW , the mud run , the only thing changed , MORE water was added , only about 8-10,000 litres !!! over 70,000 was put in friday !!!!
bit hard to do major excavation work , wen all the equipment was on other tracks - (recoveries)
& out of 6000+ spectators , someone would have obviously noticed !!!

but overall grouse event , glad I could be part of it !!!
my drive of the weekend !!
GERMON racing !!! smallest car , lowest budget(guessing) youngest driver(mate , ya look like you just took of ya training wheels !!! :D )
wat I saw hhim drive ---awesome effort !!!!

well done to Pete & Tazz , mick & roger , & Glenn & Garth !!! :D  :D

With various comments of "should have this, shouldn't have that".....all I can say is that each year we listen and each year we have a big meeting to make necessary changes.

One thing I have noticed, and it irritates me, is the constant Tuff Truck vs. WERock stuff.

Tuff Truck is about tough trucks - WERock is about tough buggies. Whilst both are based on building the best the vehicle and teaming it with the best driver, the two are like chalk and cheese.
You are comparing hard core rock crawling with short course runs.

It's starting to get like a school yard spat and looking a bit silly......we did this....you did that....we had this......you had that......

Tuff Truck and WERock are both fantastic, well run events. Buggies are becoming more and more popular and I sincerely hope it gets big over here.
Comparing the two is like comparing the Grand Prix F1's to Bathursts V8's - both awesome but run at different vehicle classes.

Nuff said.
I dont think people are whinging too much. We all think it was a good event and people like to discuss it afterwards. Withdrawal symptoms ;)

The weekend was great, except for the guy on the scissor lift with the mic at Fridays mudrun. He certainly didn,t know when too shut with the stupid comments . There where a number of spectators and competitors around me that where getting jacked off by him ,to the point that one of them went up and theatened to tear him a new one if he didnt shut up At all the comps Ive been to theres always a lot of good sportsmanship going on with the competitors willing to help each other out, this guy did nothing to promote this The other two guys on the other hand where great!!
Well i was "one of the other two guys" and I'd like to say thanks for the kind words. It really is nice to have some feedback on what we do.
Just a comment on the comentators, can they get there shit together with peoples names, and truck mods etc. All throught the weekend they continued to stuff up who drove what, or what it had done to it etc. And really, sometimes they just seem to talk for the hearing of their own voice.
Layto....
I dont expect that everyone will enjoy the style of commentry that we provided this year, and it aint easy, beleive me. I appreciate that the crowd dont like it when we make mistakes. I am happy to listen to all and any constructive critisism. But just have a think to yourself first, could I do a better job? I loved every second of the calling at TTC06, I had an absolute blast! Congrats to all involved, and remember, if you have some feedback, i'd love to hear it, it can only help me improve at what I enjoy.

Thanks,
Rick.

but it's not four wheel driving (using ramps).

i had to laugh at the person in the brindabella full body rangie using the ramps on the all terrain event, got stuck at about the 40 point mark, buggered around trying desperatly to use the ramps for about 2 mins, then the next truck (BeeBee - queenslander  ) idled through it through the use of and excellent Navi and driver.
indubitably

Commentators need to be fed info on competitors, and need names, truck info., points of interest, whatever allows the crowd to feel involved.

Maybe the promoters just need somebody to find, and relay, the info. to the man with the Microphone.

the commentators were hard pressed to get the right info as the actual running order of the competitors was different than what was written in the book..

on the other hand the guy who was singing "i like to move it move it" on the scissor lift on friday night was an absolute drunk moron who should not have been given the mic, he even let a fair few expletives out and basically dribbled crap.... the actual commentators down there Damo and the other two did pretty well considering that the mud run debacle was happening with nobody getting past the 10 point mark and the crowd wanted blood..not the easiest working conditions..

also for the organisers something to consider.. we along with others were sitting on Heartbreak ridge on Saturday and the speakers were blaring out with commentary from one of the other stages. maybe a bit less volume wouldnt have gone astray or smarter positioning of the speakers as it was deafening up there and everyone who was up there was complaining about it.....

my only gripe, which of knew of before attending, is a lack of food facilities

WE NEED A KEBAB VAN

Also at Bathurst V8SC trucks used come around selling basic groceries ( Ice, bread, milk, softdrink, water and newspapers)
Maybe you could arrange a similar set up using one of the local stores

cheers

And dont forget how has the biggest amount of money to spend on their rig
who cares how much money people spend on their vehicles. If they want to invest big $$$ into good on them. Just because big $$$ have been spent means the vehicle will win, it also needs good driving, spotting and luck

I agree totally. Also just because peole spend big $$$ on their rig, doesn't mean they're rich either. There are compeditors out there who spend almost everything they earn on their car just to be compeditive, and get criticised for being rich. These people should be given the respect they deserve, rather than sour grapes from someone who chooses to spend money differently.

From the report i hear he broke a trailing arm that alowed the diff to rotate and snap the diff retraining strap allowing the diff housing to rotate further causing the pinion to break

The event is to find the smartest driver/nav in the best tuff truck and the event was unreal.
So you agree that it would be great spectating to see a team with:

Doors that come off and turn into ramps?
A removable exo cage for building bridges?
A rear tray that can taken apart in 5 foot long sections?
Other body panels that can be taken off?
Gay little ramps stored in the car?

Hopefully the rules are refreshed before next year...

Next year there will be at least 10-12 vehicles with rear steer.... So comeon Guys, the bar is being raised every year & this year has been the highest level of competition so far.........
And where do they get pit tested? :?:
This sport does not need critics, constuctive critism will be tolerated

Rear steer does not effect road rego, pit inspections or the like. All rear steer systems that have been engineered are for off road use only.. Simply fix the system with a pin or the like...........
Any engineer will pass rear steer as long as it is fitted with a lockout....
With my setup you simply remove the quick release Hydro Ram & I replace it with a solid bar which enables it to be fixed as a non steer axle.
I have not had to fit this bar to the vehicle in the past 4 years as I do not need to drive it on the road.......

As most of our vehicles do not get driven on the street, their are many features that make these trucks look insane....

Put 38" Tyres on it with normal offset 10" rims / Flares & ghay arse mudflaps. & then they just look similiar to most other modified 4x4's with 38" rubber on them...

Tuff Truck is about finding Australia's Tuffest Truck ...
Stuff the rules ... just give them as many different types of terrain as you can think up and let them battle it out

If your competing in a daily driver then just compare yourself to the other daily drivers in the comp.

If your going for outright victory then just do whatever it takes to win.

If your in it for the challenge then just Drive it :D
