AIR bag suspension

Post by morkz »

Hi a mate of mine had some Firestone air bags the real strong ones he ended up taking them out of his GQ.

Does anyone know what they would be worth including the compressor i.e. complete kit to put rear airbags in a GQ or GU i guess....

Way to much...

Seriously my mate bought some Airman Bags and they cost him $1300 just for the rear of his 80series!!!
Then add a compressor if you dont have one and the add about $3-400 for solenoids if you want to control them individually.
Plus you need a pretty stiff set of shocks so add some more dollars for a set of Koni Adjustable's. :D

i was quoted for a complete rear kit for my GU Wagon 12 months ago for
$1399 but no compressor , just manual inflation via tyre valves.

i guy in our club popped one of his ( not quite installed correctly )
and he bought a replacement bag direct, for $400.

Get them out of the US, quoted US$152 ea. They have a full list of gauges and solenoids available.

I hope to get around to doing this on the GU ute, will get the bags from US and fab the brackets myself.

If you know the size and part number contact this company.

I have done the same as sootygu. I bought a set of firestone bags off ebay from the USA and fabricated a set of mounts for them to fit my cab chassis hilux.

I copied the mounts from a friends hilux and ordered the same air bags that he had.

All up including bolts it cost me a bit over $300.

So far they have passed through a rego check but I still wonder how legal they are.

regards Emu

I bought it all here in NSW, bags cost about $500 each, aircompressor is an engine driven airconditioning compressor, air storage is a 45ltr tank in the back. Its been named the Gravitron.
