Sir I have a 2.8 4m40 engine. I would like to query in on whats the purpose of A/T red light on the instrument panel ? doest it sense any error or problems on the A/T transmission of mine or it just monitor the level of ATF fluid inside my transmission. there are few times lately that this sensor just glow while i am driving at 50 to to 60 kph. It will glow only split seconds ot two. what does this light warns me of .??? Many thanks .....
Yep it's an auto tranny fluid over temp warning lamp.
Comes on at 143 degrees celcius and goes off at 125 degrees celcius.
The switch is located on the right hand side of the tranny.
If it is coming on now and then in normal driving :-
- check fluid level
- maybe time for a fluid change and flush
- check the auto tranny fluid oil cooler system (maybe blocked or restricted).
I have already change atf fluid using dextron III. 6 litters what could you suggest kind of atf fluid to be use and how much should i use will 6 litters will be ok? I have lost my manual thats why i dont have any idea. the atf sensor still blinks at my pannel after i have done the procedure you have advice. where can i find the oil cooler for atf? is it the one located at the front that looks like a aircon condenser only its a bit smaller? thats the only part that i have not yet check or its located below the radiator like the once i see from other cars. will cleaning the sensor inside the oil pan wll be possible as a solution?
