I do concreting and earthmoving for a living. If you can get 30 cubic metres into 3 concrete trucks then you are doing heaps better than every single concrete plant in this country.

ummm where did I say 30mtrs into 3 trucks? I said 3 trucks with a ? after it as YOU said 15 mtrs of concrete back on either page 1 or 2

I know trucks only carry 5 mtrs. so get the fark off ya high horse.

I know you are taking the piss outer me.

Never said I could build one better, just asking questions thats all. Not bagging anything or any one one bit, just interested thats all.

Rest assured that there are not too many people around that could have done it any cheaper.

Thats fair enough and understand fully.

Never said it could be done cheaper, only said I can`t see it and asked where the dollars went so I can understand it and not bag it. If I thought it could be done cheaper I would have said like fark it cost 15g

After the pour I updated saying that it took 6 hours, 30 cubic metres of concrete, and 6 guys to do it.

And there are trucks that carry 7.4mtrs in Brisbane.

Not on any horse, dude. Just assumed that you had read all of the posts before commenting.

As I said...wasn't being rude - but you are free to take it any way you want to... :finger:

:D

As for cracks in the concrete - that's what it does. There were some shrinkage cracks in it and that is normal. But one section did develop a hole about 100mm across from where nearly every buggy ended up on its side. That could have been repaired if needed, but I am confident that it would have lasted another 3 weeks of everyday use before it became a problem.

First oppertunity to sit down since yesterday morning. And give my thoughts on the event.
And im absolutly stuffed. But im shore not as stuffed as Sam overton, Micka and harley (And anyone in there tireless crew) And the staff of Haultech who were involved
and anyone else that has not been mentioned. As because of there efforts All this was possible and it gave a lot of us a lot of seat time and an oppurtunity to iron out anybugs we might of had in our buggies and also the pleasure of being part of the biggest thing to happen to rockcrawling besides werock this country has seen.
My highlite of the weekend was Daisy ending the event in the fashion he did and i dont think not one person in the place was chearing. After the way he was driving with Ruffs direction to end it with one wheel drive then Role it was absolutly awsome. But after the event it was great that everyone pitched in to take down banners and marques and the like and not leave it to one or 2 people. The bar has been raised.
Micka do you have any pics of the destruction of it all? Or did you manage to get a peice of your machinery to the top of any of the climbs?
Is a damn shame to have to destroy it all but it showes how commited some in this sport really are Putting there finances on the line to promote the sport. But to those involved in getting it all to happen myself and im shore everyone else that got to drive it we thank you for allowing us to enjoy it with you all it was a pleasure.
Again thanks
But to those who didnt bother getting in there to see it all( Im shore theres no one out there silly enough to have missed it) you missed one hell of a show. And to those that did now get along to a werock round as it gets better than that.
I think it was once said "If you build it they will come" and they did in Droves

Nah, NotNot...didn't want to destroy the memories of it for everyone else, too.

I really didn't want to knock it down this morning. Both Sam and I were a little bit emotional   :D ...but once it was all smashed up and in little pieces, we started thinking about the next one

Sounds just like a one night stand, really :D

Lets just say that it didnt cost $15000.

Where did anybody get this number from anyway??

And if we did it again it sure as hell wouldnt cost $15G.

At the end of the day all I can say is that we were very, very lucky to have this opportunity to create what I believe is the future of this sport in Australia.

In all honesty this whole thing started as a joke between me and Micka - I said ..... Hey Micka you want to do a man made concrete course - if you want to do it we need to totally sort it out today. 4 hours later Micka came back with the costings and we went from there. The biggest killer of this whole thing the time spent on the actual site. To make this happen I have spent 5 days on site and Micka has spent 8. And Micka has still got another day to go.

But I think the result was worth it cause damn it was lots of fun.

You are correct I didn`t read every post. Thats why I asked 3 trucks with a ?.
We only have 5mt trucks around here  thats what you get when you live out in the sticks

There wasn't much joking going on today, I can tell you.

I am totally rooted. I haven't done any paid work for 8 days. We have a heap to fix on our buggy before Thursday.

But fark...I would do it all again next week :D

So is there a chance of getting some permanent courses built around Australia? Would they be a viable thing? How much maintenance would they rwquire to keep themusable throughout the year? Would it be possible to build basically identical courses in say three cities to allow for comps on an even playing field without the extra costs of travel to entice more people to compete?
