Post by known 2 »

is the 100 series cruiser 1hz any diferent to the 80's 1hz and will turbo'ing it give it the same performace as a 1hd-fte. I know u can get more torque but what about kilowats? 4wd monthly got 130kw out of there troopy is it posible to get more without damaging the engine.

Bolting a turbo to a 1HZ probably won't give the same performance as the IHDFTE for many reason but mainly because the 1HDFTE is a direct injection multivalve motor. And I'm certain that if you tuned up a 1HDFTE you would get more kilowatts and torque than a 1HZ with a turbo bolted to it. Just depends how much money and time you want to spend on it.

Same goes for your last question .... it is possible to get more power .. a lot more but that depends on how much moeny you want to spend. Additionally when you crank them up to get more power you will usually sacrifice engine life at least to some extent. It's always a balance ... just like a top fuel drag car ... can produce 1000's of hp but only for a very short time.

Cheers

1hz is same in 80/100

you could get more power out of a 1hz than a factory standard 1hdfet, but the 1hdfet owner wouldnt have to spend much to out-do you again.

the 1hdfet is a direct injection (responds to turboing better) multivalve and electronically injected.

Hi
The motors are basicaly thesame, but the 100 pump has extras like imobiliser, altitude compensation etc etc.
The 1hz is a good motor, turbo it and it is better than the multivalve in the bush, but doesnt come near it on the open road.....a turbo is a worthwhile addition to a 1hz, but any more than that will return a small gain for a lot of money....
Diesels and lots of money go together, because you need a specialist to work on it....petrols only need doctors :)
