What glue would you recommend?

I recently picked up a fridge off eBay. It is a Vitifrigio which is basically an Itallian version of a Waeco. It is a plastic body and runs a Danfoss compressor. Anyway, the strange thing about this fridge is that it has no handles. At the moment I've got it ratched strapped to the third row seat bars in the rear of the Landcruiser but I wouldn't mind either buying or making a slide to put it on. Problem is, I've got no way of strapping it down. I was thinking of picking up some handles in Bunning and glueing them on. The plastic body is made up of that rough surface plastic so I need some glue that will stick really well. In the past, I've used Araldite for a few things and thought that I might use it to stick the handles on. Has anyone got any better glue recommendations?

im not sure any glue would be upto the test since the loads applied could be quite large, ie sudden and sharb breaking, the weight of the unit and the test of time, but i could be wrong.

is there anyway you could bolt them on, i know not the best option but for strength it cant be beat.

Yeah, I was gunna say the same thing. Maybe a combination of small self tappers and some sort of epoxy? Even if it's smallish hooks so nobody tries to lift it with them.

you will not be able to glue it with anything. they are made out of polyethelene which is a wax like plastic and cannot be bonded strong enough for your application. you can plastic weld it to handles of similar material (definatly not nylon which most are). i would strip it down and bolt them through the side. but why not make a frame outta 50x50 angle and hold it down with a pull tight strap

3M have a new glue out Structural Plastic Adhesive DP8005, Haven't tried it but it’s supposed to work so it probably cost an arm and a leg. Maybe try some pop rivets sealed with silicone although even silicone has trouble sticking to polyethelene

i have a model glue arond here that melts he plastic

it wont ment it to bad if you jst stick the to surfaces together but if u keep moving it wilst its sold it distorts them

ill find the name of it

Maybe I'll just put a tight ratchet strap around it and anchor it with some tie downs from that. I don't really want to drill holes for rivets or put sell tapping screws through the side of the case.

I'd just be making up a frame for it out of angle - stainless... maybe 40x5mm? would protect the corners from any damage also.
