WARN M12000 Questions

Heya guys and girls have a question for you.

Obviosly I have the above mentioned winch, however when I 'use' it, it spasmodically triggers the solenoids but wont go forward or reverse it just makes the clicking sound as you press either forward or reverse on the remote set. Why is this so? BTW the nissan has dual batts and connections appear to be fine (no kinks, welds, notched etc) The winch is less than 15 months old and has never seen much use ...

It sounds like solenoid problems, all electric winches suffer from time to time. Give solenoid a tap whilst trying to wind in or out, like you would your starter motor. Might be lucky and they just need a clean up and some silicon spray or they could be seized. maintenance is the key!

Solenoids, mount them under the bonnet to protect them a bit.
They say you should use your winch after wading to heat it up to dry it out.

bolt all the solenoids to the backing plate and the problem normally goes away.

Are you sure? I was gunna do that a few years ago and was told that the voltage drop from the longer high voltage wiring would be enough to do damage to the winch motor, if it did run it :cry:

My solonoids are under the bonnet, I have increased cable size between winch and solonoid box. Biggest hassle was finding space to fit everything. Mine is a M12000 and has worked hard enough to stall and have had no dramas

I've got a Brawn 9500lb and was having solenoid problems, since then they've replaced normal solenoids with a fully sealed solenoid pack and have had no problems
