05 TD LC100 Manual

Before putting the bars on, consistantly getting 11.5/100 kays around town & on the freeway/country roads. :lol:

With the heavier bar work front & rear (incl 2 x spares & winch) plus water tank & fridge etc now consistantly getting 12/100 kays. :lol:

Towing the van it climbs to 16 - 18, depending on the countryside. :D

All freeway/country driving is 90 - 100 max. :?

I'm retired therefore not in a bloody hurry ! :rofl:

98 defender 110, 300tdi (2.5ltr) 3 inch exhaust, fuel turned up= 10-12ltrs/100km WITH 8x5 dual axle trailer, full steel canopy, chock-o-block full of tools and hardware

11.8 litres /100 kays :shock: That's excellent. I thought my TD42 Mav was good at 13.2 and I haven't got the extra weight .... still as slow as your though :D

what do you guys also think about the jeep grand cherokee.. just found out they also are 3500kg tow rated.. hmm

disco so far seem to be at the top of the list (with exception of parts etc)
then lancruiser 4.2 (td if possible)

hmm a bit concerned at the ability of the 2.5L td5 to tow a 3000kg trailer..
as i said its only for short distances.. but i dont want anything to break, as seems the disco will be $$$$ to fix

Where did you get that idea from? Disco parts are very easy to get hold of, and are neither cheaper nor more expensive than parts for anything else.
You need to think globally ;) . But don't take my word for it, check out E-bay, http://www.aulro.com, the rest of the internet etc.

And by the way, some Disco's have a 4000kg tow rating :shock:

1995 Disco V8i Auto averaged over last 18 months 17.7L/100km (best 14.5L/100km, worst 30.8L/100km - discovered leaking fuel tank and stuffed vacuum advance on dizzy - since fixed, worst has been 22.6L/100km)
2002 Disco Td5 Auto averaged over last 3.5 years 12.5 L/100km (best 9.45L/100km, worst 15.7L/100km)
1995 Disco 300Tdi Auto (owned for 3 years, sold when bought Td5) averaged 11.2L/100km (best 9L/100km, worst 13.8L/100km)

Parts to fix the V8 took 30 minutes to find on net, another 30 minute ring around to check prices, and then 2 days to get here. Tank from Newcastle and vacuum advance from Melbourne. I don't consider that hard to get!

all i have to say is if you want it for towing go for diesel mine is auto aswell. I pull a box trailer around with my gear in it or camping stuff it approx 2.7t and i get between 15-16l per 100kay's around town.My wife drives our el falcon stock 4l auto and get's between 10-11l around town but it's weight is nearly 1 ton less. when i had my mates big double axle box on and got some bricks i said to the guy only put 1ton on i did want to push the only car we had at the time i used 22l per 100k so i can see only one winner when you do alot off towing

With a td5 disco, 3 inch lift and with all the normal touring mods to brizzie and back, towing a dual a dual axle car trailer with 700kgs up and a defender back, we got bang on 11 litres per 100. Less than $300. very very impressive.

Normal touring (tar) without trailer is sub 10s. The difference between this and slunnies are the standard tyres (29") and non chipped engine.

Try that from any patrol or cruiser.
