Bundera Engine Conversion- COMPLETED!!
Moderators: toaddog, Elmo, DUDELUX
Than ks for your replies. It seemed from your Holden V6 thread how you didnt want one and didnt like them and then a few opinions changed you so rapidly. It seemed like you were easily led. I tlooks like you may be getting a handle on it so good work and good luck.
Although I would recommend against using a winch in a lifting situation, as they are specifically not designed for that purpose and it is stated in most winch manuals that they are not to be used as a hoist. I personally have used unsafe lifting procedures before. I would advise against it, but am not trying to say I always do things correct. Because I don't!

Do as I say not as I do
Thanks for your post BJ, as for the conversion the I have chosen the exact engine from a commodore wreckers in Melbourne, out of a VR with only around 100'000 on the clock getting it complete for around $1000 and comes with a 3mth replacement warranty.
Is costing around $80 toget it all sent down.
I will pay for the order hopefully next week and recieve the engine 3-4days after that!!
As for the winch, my user manual states that it can be used as a hoist for up to 1600kgs so it is all good..
How is your build up going?
I cleaned up the engine bay a bit more today and got rid of more wiring, and put some new condute around some vonrable (sp?) wires.
Anyway it is all looking good.
I have been quoted $240 for the PBR Heavy Duty Clutch Kit (suite the VR engine), which seems to be a good price.
Take it easy all,
Regards,
Nick

Nick, did you get a rear dropped sump from Marks? if so can you post a pic of it, I'm looking to move my motor back and thought about one of these.
Don't use a heavy duty clutch kit , either go with the V8 clutch plate and the V6 pressure plate or use what Marks sell. I tried a heavy duty kit and took it out after 10k, Way too heavy.
John.

I havn't got a reversed sump as yet. I will try to make one myself before I fork out around $300 for one. If you email Marks I am sure they would be able to send you a photo.
Thanks for your advice Daniel, I know that I will be having to fork out loads of $$ for the adaptors (way more than the actual cost of the engine), but I am still going to go ahead wif me v6 commo engine. I think that this engine will suite my needs better.
Got a few other people interested in my 22r so hopefully I will sell it soon, enabling me to confirm my order.
Cheers,
Nick

Yea right. I ask for a photo and dimenions of the V8 sump so I can see if it was going to suit my application with the diff moved forward and x-over steering. They refused because they said that I would just copy it
Here is the email ->
Thanks for your recent email. Unfortunately we have no picture of this sump. If I was to give you the measurements that would mean you would be able to make your own. Unfortunately I can't give you these.

sales
So how the hell are you meant to know if it is going to fit your application without measurements
IMO they would sell alot more products if they had pics and greater detail of products.
In the end I used an older carbed 308 sump, becuase of the respone from Marks. I would have purchased this product if they had been more forthcoming with information and it suited my application I was not going to spend my hard earned cash to only find out it would not fit
Chris.
Sorry to come in late, it looks like you are set on the V6, which is OK but the 4AGE/ZE/TE is as Bundytime sugests, "bolt in", many years ago I had a Bundera chassis I was turning into a mud racer and I put a 4AGTE into it, I used all toyota parts (bellhousing, engine mounts, flywheel, ect, ect) and it looked like it was meant to be there, and these engines have heaps of grunt, I went for a rid in a kit car with a 4AGTE and it hamered, the guy said they usualy put 350 chevs in them but he wanted somthing diferent and it went just as hard, I never went in the 350 one but the 4AGTE was real quick.
Another bonus for me was I paid $950 for the engine and trans and sold the 5 speed box for $500.
Good luck what ever way you go.
Peter.

Yeah the bundera runs a G52 5spd and a similar bellhousing also fits from a W56 5speed in a Hilux but i have never seen a bellhousing that will go from a 4A to either one of these 5speed Boxes.
Unless the AE86 sprinter ran a G or W series box?
I know all the earlier vehicles that ran a 4A in a rear wheel drive application did not use this box.

I don't know what it was from Tony but it was stock Toyota no drilling, no grinding, it came from Toyhatsu back when they where in East Kelor.
While I had it all bolted up with a bit of plumbing done I never finished it, I had a 45 body to put on it with fibreglass front but I came across a rolled Bundera soft top body cheap and we fixed it up real nice, the next thing I found I was putting carpet and suspension seats in my mud racer! I had fortunately kept the ID tags that came with the chassis and rego'ed it in about 91 and still drive it today, it has been a top truck, red, 35" muds and an frp top from a MWB cut down to fit (they should have come that way) I have not put a spanner on it from day one.
I may be able to locate that bellhousing in a push.
Peter.

so the old g52 is that weak hey?
So would you be able to spin em on the concrete without worrying? I used to be able to...just
What about once it is in gear and then hitting it rather than dumping it. That must be a lot better on it and lest likely to spit it...
