Bundera Engine Conversion- COMPLETED!!

Gday all,
Im currently importing a LJ71G from Japan, which is basically the same as the Bundera sold here in Australia but with a few differences. It comes with a 2.4lt turbo diesel, R151F 5spd, 4 pinion G series LSD Diffs front and rear, Landcruiser transfer case, 2 Spot calipers on the front and coil sprung all round.
Im going one better than BUNDERA and dropping a 1UZFE quad cam V8 Lexus motor in, should make a touch over 200 kW with good zorst and aftermarket ECU.
As you guys have just mentioned the G52 gearbox is very weak and not much good at handling torque. BUNDERA you may find it will last a bit longer behind the 1GGTE than say a warm 308 due to the torque differences down low. As I mentioned mine comes with a R151f gearbox, which is from the same family as the R154 gearbox from the 1JZGTE twin turbo supra, capable of handling 500 HP comfortably, only differences is gear ratios. I can get a bellhousing to suit from Dellow in NSW.
To get the ball rolling I need to start gathering my components while im waiting for the car to come from Japan (in four weeks). My question is what side of the front cross member does the sump drop down on the 2LT motor? I assume it is at the back like the picture BUNDERA posted of removing his 22R.

Im not sure if the aussie delivered Bunderas ever came with chrome mirrors. I may find that when I get the Bundera complied I will have to remove the mirrors and replace them with aussie delivered mirrors. This is due to most Japanese cars having convex mirrors, while Aussie cars must have flat mirrors. Will soon find out.

I also have the same front and rear bumpers.
I toyed with the Lexus V8 at the time I built it up, but as they had just come out the half cuts were very exy, you will have a great unit when you are finished.

RJ70 Skip, but as I started with a rolling chassis I was gathering parts from all over the place, a lot of of bits came from an imported 4 door that 4x4 salvage center had at Preston, and on second look my rear bumper is a bit different to yours, it has the alloy step, but mine has black plastic bumper ends that wrap around to the flares.
When I finnished building it I did not put the front tail shaft or the transfer shift lever in as it was just my road car, and I did not want to take it in the bush and stuff it (I have always had other vehicles for that) another good reason for no 4x4 was the 4.8 rear dif I put in to compensate for the 35"
BFG muds.
My missus started giving me a hard time about 12 months ago to sell it, so I put in the lever and the shaft and now I will have to do something about the ratio's I guess.

Yeah you would have to do something about that diff, would be interesting to watch offroad with the different ratios . Mine comes with 4.875 which is way to short, will probably change to something around 4.1, as I will be using it to travel lond distances towing.
You shouldnt have any problems getting some more gears as the G series diff came in Hilux's, Hiaces's and a few other passenger cars (Cressida's, Crowns and some Supras I think)

That would be great .Im looking for some kind of diesel in the next few months,possibly a BJ 74 with a 13b-t .Where did you get the quad cam from? I live in Westminster by the way.

I cant wait to see how it goes (with twice the HP it should go a little better!). I will have the original springs fitted for a week or two while I get it all sorted out (otherwise she wont fit in the gararge!)

can't believe you went straight past the diesel options, a hilux 2.8 with an aftermarket turbo would owe you maybe $5k, bolts straight in, no adaptors, stacks of torque, stunning economy compared to any petrol option, and best of all next to zero wiring, sure not as much top end power but how fast do you need to go?
ah well. how is the project going anyway? got your motor yet?
I've had a newer 2L-TE sitting in the garage for months waiting for me to get off my bum and stick it in.

$5000 is too much. I am spending under half of that now.
Will spend the rest on a decent exhaust, custom snorkel and fixing up the suspension that I had only just fitted prior to doing this conversion.
ETA on engine/frontcut Wednesday of next week.

Nah I usually work on my car every weeknight from 4pm-10pm. Almost Religiously! although the last few weeks I have been on here instead of working on it cos I couldn't do anything?

Ive had no luck searching for a 1UZFE in Perth, so ive had a rethink. I thought the 1JZGTE to be too small in capacity(2.5L), but it's performance would prove otherwise. At a touch over 2000 RPM it's already making 300 Nm of torque which eventually peaks at 363 Nm @ 4800, The 1UZFE peaks at 353 Nm @ 4400 RPM. Peak power is 206kW @ 6200 RPM, 1UZFE is 186 kW @ 6000 RPM. Ive already got prices, $1850 with 6 month warranty sounds pretty reasonable, hopefully tomorrow ill have a 1JZGTE sitting in the garage.
