Suggestions for 4 Runner

Post by Harrow »

Hey Guy,
My mate has a 1993 Toyota 4 Runner 2.8 Deiesel, IFS, with 2 inch lift all round and is wondering what mods he can get done to the suspension and engine. He wants more hight out of the vehicle because his approach and departure angles suck especialy when loaded with all his gear. He also would like to know what sugestions you have about getting better preformance out of his engine and whether you guys thing the 4 runner will make a good touring 4b.

Thanks Heaps

Definetly needs a turbo set to 10psi (very safe)
If he want to keep IFS he can add 1" ball joint spaces see http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8452
Also add a 2"-3" body lift very cheap to do not over $80 to do your self complete, also do diff breathers is a good idea will cost about $5.

Other then that the other option is a SAS.

The 4Runner are a great touring 4B IMHO, more comfortable than a lux, and 98% as good offroad with a few tweaks->

Read the posts on turbos and 2.8 motors... http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... hp?t=71600

2" body lift, if he is going to use it for touring get some big washers welded onto the body mounts to minmise cracking cuased by heavy loads of corrugated roads.

Aftermarket 2" lift, ARB, EFS, Rancho etc. maybe go polyairs in the rear springs to help with consistent heavy loads.

Aftermarket barwork.

I could sit here at spend $20k for him if he wants :D
Cheers,
Dan.
