RUF and Hilux f to rear Pic's

Post by Nick B »

I have been looking at the tech section and doing searches for info and pics on RUF and Front Hilux to rear Spring and suspeinsion conversions but there Aren't any Photo's available on the discusions and more.

Could anyone post up some pics of the conv to give me a better idea of what I am trying to achieve. My new little projct is a LWB and I want to put my 33"x12.5" Mongrels that are just sitting in my yard on something before I go bonkers, So I want to do the above conversion to:
1. get more travel
2. clearance of the mongrels
3. still trying to keep cog good and rig leagish  For QLD
4. any other idea's other than the obvious body lift and Seroius agnle grinder action

I will probably run longer shackles as well.

Any comments and Pics welcome, as I am just trying to visualise what needs to be done to fit the springs.

zook

Post by CanberraMav »

This is exactly what i am in the process of building at the moment. Nearly everyone that i have found has done these mods with a SPOA. I wanted to have my zook remain SPUA and its all going well so far.

Currently i have done the RUF without the chasis extension and have fitted 2inch longer shackles. This alone makes the zook clear the 31's with room to spare. When i started my build i decided that a bodylift was not going to happen. Im going to lightly trim the guards if need be.

On the rear i have fitted hilux fronts by cutting off all the mounts and moving them outwards. The rear mount is on the absolute end of the chassis and was inboarded slightly. The front was moved accordingly.

I dont have photos as of yet but keep an eye on my members section for some updates.

Its all pretty straight forward....and that i coming from someone that has never done it before.

Maybe try here to start. That pretty much covers RUF.

Hilux fronts in the rear is easy. You will need new spring hangers to handle the wider spring. Its also easier to use hilux shackle mounts for the other end as opposed to making weird step in style shackles.
