What torque - diff to housing nuts.

Post by 2car »

Ive just popped a new diff in my 40. Ive got the diff-to-housing bolts done up to 40ftlb ie the ones that hold the third member in the axle housing. Is that about right?

TIA

Ben

Ive never used a torque wrench on those bolts i usually just do them up tight with a ratchet. But i also only use silicon with no gaskit.

Sounds about right, proper torque specs for an 80/100 series front diff are something like 25 Nm. Bugger all but they only have spindly M8x1.25 studs though. Have been known to stretch and come loose when locker equipped.
