Hi all,
looking at replacing springs and shocks in my 90 model 2.8d hilux. Would like to add 2"lift aswell. Anyone got preference on brands etc for good on & off road. Also estimate price if youve done it if possible.
Thanks Heaps

Hilux suspension - leaf

Hi there, I have 89 model sr5 2.8d with 2 inch lift, I have had the OME fitted leaf front and back and also OME shocks, have just replaced the front leafs and have the shockies on order for front only, The vehicle has 280k on it now and has been round oz twice so to me that is proof of their reliability to me, up until now have had no leaking shockies, and no broken shackles pins etc, front springs started to sagg and front shockies have got soft is the only reson for replacement but have got the exact same ones again. The bore in the OME shockies are 19mm where as some of the other brands have a much larger bore 36mm thats ok if you want to wear a kidney belt. There are larger bore OME's but are not suited to the hilux unless as said above you want to wear a kidney belt. I believe the iron man is also good but every one to there own choice and no boubt you will get different opinions from everyone. Alot comes down to what you want to use the vehicle for and how much $$ you want to spend. The front springs cost me $133 each and the shocks were $300 a pair. New greaseable shackles were $ 75 a pair. I only use the rubber bushes as nolothene will wear the pins out before the bushes and can sqeak, and the rubber will give you just that bit more flex.
