Hi was thinking of puting a 353 detroit with fuller 5spd in my dodge ute, has anyone ever attemted anything like this before

mate of mine put a 2 53 into a David Brown tractor for road trips with other vintage tractore
it is not a very large capacity you realise, 160 cubic inchs

put a 3-53 in an f350 once went like a shower of shit but on the govenors at 110 also caused industrial deafness in the cab

have seen a couple of F trucks advertised with them in, i guess you'd have to make sure the gearing made for a comfortable cruising speed, i've often wondered if the 6v53 would fit in an f350, probably too heavy. Would use some fuel also, sound good tho.

Rough rule of thumb for detroit 53 fuel useage , a gallon a cylinder an hour

that does indeed work for a 371 in a chamberlain super90 pulling a plow! I was wondering about road trips and low down power

yes they are diesel engines used in trucks. They are just about used in everything industrial. They are 2 stroke and come in all sorts of different configerations. The three cylinder sizes are 53, 71, 92 cubic inches per cylinder.
