its funny you said that as i was just looking at it before posting this topic. Allready decided that this is not an option as i wanna keep it all factory and all nissan apart from maybe a wolf computer later down the track but thats a long way off. So thanks for the feedback but ill give that one a miss

well if you want to go stock you need the following
first scrap the Carby and Inlet Manafold.
Next you need to get the EFI Manifold, Injectors, Loom, Computer, Fuel pump, Dizzy, and exhaust sensor as well the the inlet sensors, Throttle position sensor.
you will need the new dizzy as the EFI one doesn't have any mechanical or vaccum advances, the ECU controls the spark timing as well as the injection system.

EFI conversion
Hi Mudmav and the forum
I converted my 89GQ from carby to efi.
I used the standard efi manidold, injectors and throttle assembly.
I used a megasquirt cpu controlling both fuel and ingition.I am running a coil pack for the ingition with it all controlled by are vr sensor triging off a 36/35 tooth wheel mounted on the front pully.
The standard dissy just plugs the hole in the engine block.
I found a worthwhile increase in economy and performange.
Fitting the manifold and computer etc was easy it is other fiddlythings that take up the time and money.
Running a after market computer allows you to other modifications latter on eg fitting a turbocharger etc.
My two cents worth
Regards

A speed camera would have prevented that!
Hey Nigel, that sounds like an awesome setup.
I Would love to see some pics.
Are you using an EF timing disk and coil pack also?
I want to do this even just for the spark as my 88 is straight gas anyway/ with the EFI intake already.
Setup info for the megasquirt would be great to see also. What version ms do you use?

i'm looking at doing this install as well.
After reading the Megasquirt Forums and outers ones about megasquirt. Everybody seems to be really happy with the results.
I'm not a huge fan of carby engines. And mine at the moment is just reinforcing that decision. So i think a efi carby would be the way to go, as at least its a easier to make changes and modify.
The list of stuff i'm needing is.
Megasquirt 1.
1 offers the same basic functions as two now, 2 jsut has a better processor. so unless your thinking of going hardcore and running two turbos and a superchager and nos.
the sensors needed are a vr commonwhore exhaust gas sensor, map sensor and two coolant temperture sensor (one of which you cut the protective metal covering off and use as an intake air temperture sensor.
and a EA falcon throttle body injection.
Seems to be the easiest one that people have modified. Elongate a few holes and it should slip on.
this should have the two injectors, and a throttle position senors on it as well.
Now i havent started or done this yet, this is only what i've read.
But it seems that if you can get on the forums and get into one of the group buys, you can pick up a complete MS system for around the $300 mark. Assemble it yourself and your set.
if anybody want to correct me, please dont hold back. As i siad, this is only my understanding of it so far.
