Gxl Petrol 260km Auto 5"lift and 35's
for 11 grand
what should i be looking at for this kind of KM apart from wheel bearings and the like, how long would i expect to get before i need an engine rebuild. The car would most likely be converted to LPG does this throw up any problems for this sort of mileage
the other one im looking at is a 1992 Pov pack 311km on it, NA Diesel
bullbar, roof rack, cargo barrier snorkle for 10G not sure of service history at the moment.

those 3f petrol 80's are real heavey on fuel, and the auto boxs in the early cruisers are not all that flash. if you want petrol auto find a 93 on model better motor, heaps more power and slighlty better on fuel. also to get it roadworthy i would suspect you would have to pull the lift out and put on smaller tyres.
ite diesel one you looking at would be a better choice i feel, the motors are good for 500 000km if looked after, and spend the 3 grand it would cost you to convert the other one to gas on lift and tyres

if you are not in a hurry for one, keep a look out as i just recently seen a 1990 sahara td go for 12k, if you wait you can find some good deals.
If you cant wait i would opt for the N/A diesel.
Alot less maintence very reliable motor, also easily turbo charged. Gas will turn an 80 into a dog box plus you always have to take it to a gas mob for its servicing and retune.

I too looked at pootrols when looking for a new car, the thing i didnt like as much was the interoir is not as a higher standar as toyota. That said there drive line is very impresive, but i also wanted the bigger car with nicer interior so the 80 won it for me.

I have an 80 petrol/gas auto it dose loose a bit of power but not all that much the gas covertion cost me $2200 and with the cost of petrol & deisel (some places up to $1.55 a ltr) the gas is cheaper to run only down fall is if you want a tourer you wont get gas in remote places
