hi guys i was wondering if anyone has an xl7 theyve taken off road or modded. also im thinking of selling the 100 series cruiser and getting one any specs on fuel economy ect loaded/unloaded/ highway/ city driving also power uphills .any inherent problems im thinking about a 2001 to 2003 model 2.5 litre v6 man or auto any info would be greatly appreciated thanks muds
they are a very good 4by for easy to mild 4wding.
on the 2.5 lt just have the chain and coilpacks tested/looked at.
also look out for the bash plate on the front.. they are flimsy plastic ..
no fuel figures sorry but have had many customers say they are great on fuel consumption.

I have an XL-7 with a few mods, there are several other members of the Suzuki 4wd club with XL-7s......I have a 2" lift, BFG muddies and ECB bar. Some others have a hilux snorkle adapted to fit and some have the Calmini kit for the lift....I am happy with mine off-road, they tour really well and the long wheel base and grunty motor (i also have auto) make it nice in the tough bits. Lockers would be nice, but no-one makes them yet....

They is someone on this forum with a black XL-7 with white Outerlimits stickers on the back windows, I see it on the way to work every so often.
He would be able to help you! Whoever he/she is!?
I used to have a modified GV SWB and it got around Menai very well, but the XL-7 is alot longer so you need to lift them alot to get good ground clearance.

Yeah, the black Xl-7 with outer stickers is me.......I go to menai every now and again, my lift is a big 50mm..... 2.5" (50mm) at the front and 3.5" (50mm) with 26% stiffer at the rear.....had them done at all springs at morebank.....thinking of re-doing the front ones as it has a habit of hitting the bump stops when loaded and driving fast over washouts....

G'day all, I have a 2001 XL7 and have found it to be suprisingly good. It has a 2" OME lift & Cooper ATR's. I had it at Fraser Island Sep 2005 and went everywhere my mates GU went with no probs. Fuel consumption is average I thought getting 500km's per 66lt tank loaded & unloaded. I fitted 2 Hiclones to it hoping to improve economy but didn't notice any difference. Great little truck though.
OK THANKS FOR THE INFO GUYS I WAS TOLD BY SOMEONE ELSE THAT THEY GET ABOUT 500 KS TO THE TANK SO THIS SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT HOPE TO GET ONE SOON AS MY 100 SERIES GETS 400-450 FROM 90 LITRES SO I THINK A ZOOK IS THE GO PLOBLY DONT REALLY NEED IT TO BE TOO MODDED AS IVE ALSO GOT AN 80 SERIES THATS HEAVILLY MODDED FOR OFFROAD JUST REALLY WANT A ZOOK FOR TOURING AND MILD OFFROAD THANKS AGAIN MUDS
I bought the 2 hiclones after a friend of mine raved about them in his 80 series. Hiclone do a better price if you buy 2 at the same time. In my opinion I wouldn't recommend buying any.

Matt,
Do you have any photos pf how your dual battery is set up, I want to put a dual battery in as I run the notebook in the car a lot, and use an invertor to charge the camera's etc.....always paranoid about flattening the starting battery..

G'day Greg, I'll have to take some photos of the setup for you. If yours has factory cruise it may be a problem as where it is mounted is where I put the starting battery. I relocated the radiator overflow to in front of the L/H headlight and completely removed the bracket for the factory cruise & radiator overflow bottle. I found an Odyessy battery that fitted into the small space & that is now my starting battery. I mounted a truck size deep cycle on the original battery tray as the second battery. It's all a tight fit but works very well. I'll get some photo's for you and am more than happy to discuss this further.

Cheers, Matt.
