i got an '84 MK Patrol SWB sd33t, how can i tell what diff ratios have i got ?

check your compliance plate and have a look at the axle code. it will be something like HG43 or HG46 or something. the numbers refer to what your ratios are. 43 is 4.3 ratios.

I imagine that you have 4.3 ratios as you have the turbo diesel.

mine were 3.9 till i fitted 4.6 . mine is about the same year and is Sd33T

my guess is 4.3 :1

but as said.... go and check your compliance plate. it will be on there.

yep, 4.3: 1 ;)

generally you can go off the following...

Most patrols with the L28 motor are 4.6:1
most SD33 desiel are 4.6:1
SD33T most are 4.3:1
P40 most are 4.1:1

there are exceptions to all of these.... people swap diffs out.... and sometimes you find different ratios in different models depending on transfercase and the year model....

but the above are the more common.

every SWB SD33T 84 I have owned unless it has had diffs removed has been 4.33 LSD...... the LWB just don't like em - hill starts become a pain with 4.33 in a LWB as I found out - good on freeway but suck round town hey.
