here in the states there is little if no support for this truck, but the import tuner craze is full on. any ideas for cross platform applications,ie; super chargers, injection upgrades, etc thanks [img][/img]

And I suppose, the next most obvious question is, Why the Merc grill emblem?

besides a homemade cold air tube and K&N filter i haven't done any engine mods.everthing so far has been home fab. bumpers, sliders, fenders, beadlocks, mounted ammo cans for tools, welded rear diff.since the rocky was sold in the states for 2 years only,(90-92) nobody knows what it is,(suzuki, geo, isuzu, tracker, etc.)so i found a benz grill ornament to mix it up just a little bit more(i've got some locals thinking it's an escape pod for an unimog)i've planned a solid axle swap using a late 80s toyota axle when the front diff goes, but that about it.
SIMPLYPV,yeah, dude, 10 miles north o' seattle, pm me your #, got some good wheeling up here, i'd love to check out tillimook as well![img][/img]

chopped?well yes but with a saws-all, not photoshop. dont know if it's got enough HP.to break the diff but i'm not being nice to it either :twisted:back to the original question, what can i do with a 1.6 that will make some diff splitting power(lol).a 4.3 ltr.(gm) swap was a previous plan but for now too costly.(i've got a donor rocky that may get the v-6 or v-8 buggy treatment)i changed paint scheme, that alone should make it go alittle faster [imgImagethe begining[imgImagethe organ donor[imgImagesorry,i've become a pic post whore,i'll stop now.[/img]

You've done a lot of work so far. I don't know how you turn over the 35's with the stock gearing. I had to go down to 5.71's with 33's and that put it a little better than stock tires/ gearing.

With the 4.3L and Daihatsu axles

I've said this before here: Look for a body damage wrecked Toyota 4Runner (insurance write off). Use the engine, tranny, transfer case, axles, radiator, wiring harness etc.

Look for an `85 as they have the most trussing on the solid front axle. The engine is a 2.2L I believe. You will need to regear the axles. Or you could leave the stock rear axle @ 5.29 and just regear the front.

I started with the Toyota axles, the stock Daihatsu engine, tranny, transfer case and drive shafts. Regeared later to 5.71's and 33's. like I said it did have more power than the stock set up.

This might be less expensive than buying Oz headers, new exhaust, HotWires, injectors, turbocharger, supercharger etc.

I have seen an 85 in good condition go for $150.00...just a suggestion.

Since then I have made some more mods. I now have too low of gearing and a little too much power. Waiting for yet another regear.

Good work :D

thanks for the input, gearing would be the easiest next move.i was wondering how you got that kind of flex out of your front. cool rig! do you know where i can get an exhaust manifold or header for my motor?mine is cracked big time.

No on the exhaust manifold. Most of them seem to crack at some point. I went with extractors from New Zealand via Oz. Even the cast iron manifold on the swapped in Toyota engine had a hairline crack...went with headers off of Ebay. I suppose that the crack can be MIG'd or TIG'd to get you by.

The flex in the front is from Range Rover radius arms and Fox AirShox. No springs. The back is just Rocky springs as a SOA. I did have extensive pics on here but they got lost. I have them backd up on CD but can't find the CD.

I didn't know that we could post pics again. Will have to look at replacing the pics in my mod thread when I find the CD.
