coil/shock mount position need advice

The time has come for the full welding of coil/shock towers.
I get one chance at this because I ain't taking them off again,it's a grinder thing!

I want to set the tower so the coil and shock are parrallel with the mounts on the diff at ride height.I wanted to do this as they are in the most "relaxed" position at ride height.The shock the most as I don't want
it under sideways tension at ride height.

That being said when I marked out the radius from full up to down travel
from the radius arm bush at ride height they would not be parrallel.
The joys of 3 link.

I've thought about this to much and have confused myself.
Should have just said "yep that looks good there!" and weld.

Any advise would be gratful.

il get a photot of modified toy's 80 series front end in a 40

altho they cut and re positioned the spring perches on the diff i think from memorey and also flipped the front arms too

also have you tried just tacking everything and seeing how it works

and were did you get the new spring/shock towers from?

They are not new.
I cut them off a Bundera Chasis then sandblasted them.That's probably why they look new.

I will need some really good tacks to test them.
The mounts are welded in the center so even with good tacks it will be a mission grinding off if no good.
Sorry I'm just over grinding I think it's the worst job,for me anyway.

from a person that works in the steel industry, rule of thumb, one inch of verticle up weld will hold one metric tonne, i can see 4 positions where you can do that easyier enough to grind off, and u can test in ur back yard. sorry this does help with position of mounts though

We set up ours so that the guard bolts in the origional position between the spring perch and the shock,but we just set up the coils so they look the same as the 80 the steering box position was also set up at the same geometry as the 80, so we could get it to steer like an 80, but we cut the spring perch on one side on the diff and lifted it up level as we cut the lower control arm brackets off the botom of the diff and installed them on the top. This did change the set up a little.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but why did you mount the control arms on top of the diff? Does this give you more articulation??

it stay's the same as the bump stop works before the arm can hit anything

to get more up travel just shorten the bump stop
