OME Springs Sagged (60 Series)
I put an OME lift in my 60 week before easter, have done around 1000kms, OME states an estimated lift of 3" in the rear and 2" in the front. These are the measurements i have recorded.
(heights measured from bottom lip on rim to the bottom of the wheel arch)
Before Installation New Springs Fitted 1000km later
FL: 700mm 750mm 722mm
FR: 700mm 750mm 735mm
RL: 660mm 760mm 745mm
RR: 660mm 760mm 755mm
It looked awsome when first installed, it sat level side to side and the rear sat slightly higher then the front. Now it is almost back to standard height at the front LH corner.
The front left hand corner has sagged more then normal, I could deal with 5-10mm of even sag, but when its all over the place like it is something isnt right. the car is on a noticable lean towards the front left hand corner i have had several people comment about it. Have spoken to ARB and it is booked in next saturday to be inspected! Not Real Happy!
Has this happened to anyone else? if so how did you rectify the problem?
Cheers in advance
Troy.

GXL HDJ80 Cruiser - Lifted, Locked, 315's, 3" Zorst, Safari Intercooled, High Flowed Turbo, All the fruit. AMMS tuned coal shovel, Pushing 148rwhp... + heaps of the black sooty goodness...
I bought the heaviest (hardest) springs they had available for the 60's as i want to swap the delux bar and put a winch bar and winch, side rails, steps, long range tank, and tyre carrier. So i was thinking ahead, but if they are sagging already ill take them back and tell them to fix it!
Rear is rated at 'Constant 200kg load to GVM'
Front rated at '51-110 kg' (what ever that means)
The funny thing is i used to work for this ARB outlet and they know how cranky i can get

Do you mind me asking what outlet it was??????
also bear in mind the car should never sit level, the driver side should be anywear from 8-12mm higher then the passenger, This is determinded by Spring free camber height, You should also measure bumstop To Diff Measurements when dealing with leaf springs (not rim to gaurd) this will eliminate any variance in the body especially in something as old as a 60. Can't remember what you mesurments were but should also allow for a drop of at least 20mm in most leaf springs after fitment and settleing. What did they report at your 500km OME Suspension Check.

It was ARB Southside (now called ARB Coopers Plains), I have also measured bump stop clearance and there is the same 13mm difference. Measuring from the body may give inacurate readings but over 1000km's the body should not have twisted to a degree that its 13 mm lower at the front LH corner. The car never used to sit lower on one side with stock springs, nor did it after the fitmant of the new springs, so 1000k's later i think it is not acceptable for it to only have one side sag more then any other. i couldnt care all the springs sagged evenly or close to, but i think a 13mm difference is not normal.
I fitted them the weekend before easter, then went out west for easter, then before i went to LCMP last weekend i spoke to ARB and they are really busy and couldnt fit the car in. So i told them i could do the 500km check (As I used to work there as a fitter, so if i can do it to others cars why cant i do it to mine?) and report back on all measurements etc for warrenty. Prior to doing the check i had several people comment on how the car was sitting and i took no notice, but it was brought to my attention when i took meaurements. I took the measurements in the exact same location, car facing same way, measured from same points as i made a mark when i first measured with stock springs to limit the variables. There was maybe a mm difference in the spring free camber height but that wont control the amount of Sag.
To me it looks like the front LH spring has lost its profile (gone soft) just the way it is sitting. Where the spring passes under the axle and castor plates the spring appears to be kinking up under the stress of the load so the spring has a wavey look side on.
The car is booked in for Saturday morning so hopefully they will sort sumthing out!

lol well you see this is where it is going to be interesting, because i was a fitter for ARB at the time i had the choice of fitting it myself at work and being charged $300 or so, or doing it at home on the weekend free of charge.
The workshop forman and all the fellas in the workshop said i would be crazy to pay to do it at work because if i do it at home i still have all warrenty and so forth. So it was still fitted by an ARB fitter. So if im going to run into warrenty problems this is where its gonna happen, although i took it to work on the monday and had a couple of the boys check it out and the installation was given the thumbs up. So this problem is a product fault not an installation fault as it was given the all clear from fully qualified fitters
Will be interesting to see how i go!

Hey... how did you go with ya springs ???
I got the same as you but the dakkar version and they sagged really bad
in the front having duel batts and winch... i took them back and they added an extra leaf which brought them to a deisal speck and now they have sagged... also the sleave pressed in the eyes for the bushes where falling out after the first 6mths...not good....and they tryed to charge me for the work done to them even though they were under warranty. i give up on them and will never recomend them to anyone. mine are stuffed again and still under warranty but they can shove it... ill buy some decent springs next time.
Good luck fella...

G'day Gumby its good to hear (well not really) im not the only one who's got the sh!t's with their OME.
They told me everything with the springs were alright, they then tried to tell me it was the body, i said well why is the bull bar and rear bumper down on the passenger side. i then made them measure the gap between body and chassis and it was like half a mm diffference between passenger side and driver side. So now i apparently have a slightly twisted chassis, so slight the driver side is 20mm higher (measuring from rim to guard).
Even with the stock springs, it sat level and they had 345 000kms under their wing. It sat level with the ome's in for the 1st 800kms and i dont know how i could have twisted the chassis when i havnt done any hardcore off roading!
So when it comes time to do the body lift ill get a superior 3" suspension kit while im at it, apparently they are fairly good. I would not reccomend OME to anybody. I though OME would be good considering they've apparently got 25yrs or sumthing under their belt! How wrong i was!

Geez, they must have let their quaility down on the OME springs for 60series.
I fitted a set of the heaviest srings avaliable to my fj62 sahara with steel bullbar, winch, dual batteries, 170lt long range tank and kaymar rear bar/wheel carier. Whilst on a full tank when loaded for travelling it sits down a little in the rear, I have never questioned their performance.
They were fitted in 1995 and only maintenance has been a broken pin in the anti inversion hanger and new bushes due to wear.
I was so happy with them that the 80series is now on OME with LTR shocks. We demand a lot out of our cars when travelling outback and I hope this set is as reliable

DOES IT ONLY HAVE SUSPENSION LIFT? OR BODY TOO! I WANT MINE TO LOOK LIKE THAT!
Can i have some info on your truck quick 60????
Is it possible i could have a slightly twisted chassis? causing it to be down the front passenger side?

Ive had the boyz at superior do a 3"lift on mine Efs springs, extended shackles brake lines, castor wedges,Rancho Rs 5000 and that was about 12 months ago they do good work....
I have a 75 series with a ARB delux bar and a 9500 pound winch and they havent dropped at all.
Dont the OME Springs get made overseas now? May be the steel or the workman ship is not as good as it use to be.....
Dont get me wrong iam a massive fan of ARB and ive given them alot of my hard earned cash...
