did jeep bring cj8's to australia or did they only have them in the states

They are pretty cheap. I have seen overlanders around $5K. They look cool but they would require a lot of work to make a feasible off road car out of them. IMHO you waould have to look at them like a LWB zuk - a tub and rails as a starting point.
