Wheel Alignment - Melbourne Eastern Burbs

Post by MKPatrolGuy »

Hey Guys,

I need a wheel alignment done on the Mav (Which is running 35s if it makes a difference). Can anyone recommend somewhere in the Eastern suburbs, around Ringwood, Croydon, Bayswater sort of area, that is open on a Saturday morning.

Cheers

Dave,

Try Bridgestone on Canterbury Rd, Kilsyth.

They do trucks so should be able to align a 4WD. I've had my Pedes balanced there before and they were cheap and easy to book in to.

Cheers,
Kris.

That said, the only thing they can adjust is the tie rod anyway. Easy, quick $40 for them.

Cool, will give them a ring. The Mav is just pulling to the right a bit, so I want to get it checked.

I dont know about on a Patrol ( I assume that is the 4wd you are talking about), but I got new tyres on my Hilux a while back and had a wheel alignment done as well.
I watched them change the tyres, then the manager came up to me and asked if I wanted to pay the bill now , while they did the alignment ?
I walked from the door of the workshop into the office and started writing out the cheque. I handed the cheque to the manager and he started typing the details into the computer when the bloke from the workshop walked in and said -"all done" !!!! ( in 3 mins )
I asked how far out the wheels were ??? He said "not much".!

I drove off, then it hit me ---- YOU "CANT" align the wheels on a Hilux. You can change the Camber with shims, but not align them.
( I already knew this, and am buggered if I know why I booked it in    )

What I am saying, is make sure you can align the wheels on your truck. Dont get ripped off like I did. I`ll bet it is the quickest $45-00 they ever made !!

You can only check the settings of caster /camber. Toe can be adjusted.

I do it using a tape measure.

If its pulling to the right you are lucky. Most pull to the left with road camber

Check tyre pressures and swap front wheels left to right to check tyre pull.

Also check bushes in rear arms and also arms not bent on one side.

You better hope they can align the wheels on your lux. The tie-rod is adjusted to change the toe on the front wheels. If its not way out, and there are no other problems, it is a quick job.
