I thought it was 2,500kg until about 1996 where it changed to 3,500kg and a 350kg ball weight

Ok the standard bar will read 113kg for the ball weight but did Toyota revise this to 250kg as I have read this somewhere else

All i thought they changed was the rear brakes are slightly bigger (and i meen slightly) and the chassis was widenedShadow wrote:no4WD Stuff wrote:So does this mean if I get a new tow bar it will be legal up to 3,500kg

The brakes and probably other things were upgraded at the same time which are probably what gave it the extra towing capacity.

the front brakes are slightly different aswell, not sure what, but i know some 15" rims dont fit late 80series but they fit fine on early 80series, caliper fouls.sniper wrote:All i thought they changed was the rear brakes are slightly bigger (and i meen slightly) and the chassis was widenedShadow wrote:no4WD Stuff wrote:So does this mean if I get a new tow bar it will be legal up to 3,500kg

dow5or will tell you exactly what was changed, to the thou!
i thought the update 80's had bigger rotors front and rear as well as different calipers. i dont know if they widened the chassis i thought they changed the offset of the 16" wheels which is why they have bigger mudflaps and wider flares???
