Tow Bar ball weight for 1990 80 series.

Post by Suspension Stuff »

So far as I can tell, it came out as 125kg and then revised to 250kg.

I thought it was 2,500kg until about 1996 where it changed to 3,500kg and a 350kg ball weight

ok depnends on what bar you have. I had a 1990 80 td and it with factory bar only 150kg but with a kaymar rear step was 250kg yes it went up to 350kg in 1996 so if you got a new bar on a old 80 it will say 350kg on the bar.

Early 80 series has a 2.5 tonne towing limit. Later 80's had a 3500kg towing limit.

I dont believe changing the tow pack means you can tow more.

The brakes and probably other things were upgraded at the same time which are probably what gave it the extra towing capacity.

All i thought they changed was the rear brakes are slightly bigger (and i meen slightly) and the chassis was widened :?

the front brakes are slightly different aswell, not sure what, but i know some 15" rims dont fit late 80series but they fit fine on early 80series, caliper fouls.

dow5or will tell you exactly what was changed, to the thou!

i thought the update 80's had bigger rotors front and rear as well as different calipers. i dont know if they widened the chassis i thought they changed the offset of the 16" wheels which is why they have bigger mudflaps and wider flares???
