If you would read my post correctly,You would see that i'm not against the shootout,Just the way it's scored....
As for your comment on COMMITMENT to the sport, far go.... I have competed in every comp that you run,All except for round 3 last year where mechanical failure took us out before the start, but still i showed to support fellow competitors. And If thats not commitment, I don't know what is...

Again if you read all the posts in this thread i commented early in the peace and congratulated YOU AND YOUR TEAM for running another great weekend....

Geez it seems unless your an organiser or seem to run the OUTERS board you just can't have your say.....

Jamie, it is your JOB to educate potential sponsors!

Explain to them what and why this happened and explain to them the rules. If they are a Big Sponsor that is involved in the sport already then THEY should already know how things work (if they don't educate them). This way when they see that 50 in the last row, they know exsactly why its there!

Heres the funny thing, most sponsors wouldn't even care what the score was! And if they are that wound up about the result then look for another sponsor!

Maybe but it also gives the people who put in all the effort in the world wether on a shoe string budget or a american express gold card budget to go that extra placing without fear of droping out of the top 4/5/6 or whatever the shootout number is. I am constantly surprising myself with what we are being able to do and drive in my buggy considering all the hassles ive had in the time of owning it and felt very good to make the shootout round.
Jamie we drove the whole weekend almost the same as you guys meaning clean and finishing the coarses as much as possible. But we dont have as many competitors yet in pro mod so a diffrence there but you not making the shootout was just bad luck as far as the fuel went but as you said thats racing but you could also blame yourself on not checking the fuel level as to not making the shootout apposed to how its run.
I do think that if you do make a shootout round youll agree that its the highlite of the weekend and will be all for it from there.
Just try to flip your coin and look at all the benafits it has apposed to the draw backs as its easily over weighed.
Another good thing the shootout does is reward those who "play the game" and if your a smaller struggling outfit then youll have that one oppertunity to toplle the big guys, even if you dont overall beat them youll be able to do it on one coarse with evryone watching and have the chance to watch everyone in front of you run the same coarse so youll see how evryone else approches it. But not if you run first. :?

at first i throught the shootout wasn't such a good idea but after running it and watching not not DNF  if helped us know what we had to do to stay that one place above them with in turn went we had to drive harder to make sure we keep your 3rd place with made it a great part of the event and i am all for that :)

Lots of people are able to have a say on things without personally attacking anybody let alone the person that has put in so much time and effort into making WE Rock and this board happen. I just went back and reread what you said and I think you are way out of line on this.

i think after a few more rounds of this format, it will just become common place to see the top 4 shootout, and everyone will forget what the fuss is about!!!!!

I'm just amazed at the high level of bitchiness in 4WD events in general

Some people really have egos that are totally over-inflated and act as though they have never played a day of sport in their lives. At the end of the day, rules are rules...but they are also subject to change.

One thing that is refreshing though, is that at least Jamie Way has had the balls to speak about the problem to Sam's face - instead of making comments behind his back and getting all sh1tty like a spineless whimp.

Too much whinging and not enough acting like grown men. Sh1t happens in sport - get over it and move on.

Rant over.

I liked the shot out and not just because it benifited me but as said by a few it draws all to a central spot and lets spectators see the top teams all run on the same coarse one after the other ,also lets you see were your at points wise and give youu a chance to try and peg back a place or two depending on the scores.

i thought the shootout was an interesting idea, only negative was that it made a mid afternoon finish an evening finish, making it a long late drive home. but i guess you queenslanders will find out all about that for the next 2 rounds so we really shouldnt complain!

No you shouldn't complain!

You think leaving at 4 or 5 Pm is bad, Maybe you should hang around sometime and help pack up. I didn't leave Bathurst until 8PM and come to think of it, some people that left for Newy (area) from Rover Park would have been home in bed before i and many others were! :)

This was not our plan. It just happend that way. It would have finished a similar time if we had ran all the vehicles through 4 styages like has happened in the past. We all want to try and finish early but it just happens this way. Hopefully at Colo we will get the teams through a little faster. And maybe be able to get away a little earlier this time.

Have you all forgotten that this is supposed to be fun?

Who cares what the format is? Unfortunately the prize of a free trip to the states to get your asses handed to you has turned a few normally nice easy going folk into bitchy nit pickers.

My only complaint about WE Rock is the closeness of the rounds, which we knew what we were getting ourselves into anyway.
I think there is always room for improvement in any sort of competition organisation.
It's a shame to see Jamie getting crucified for saying what he thinks, but in the current state of affairs it doesn't surprise me.

Remember... FUN!

actualy i stayed the night and helped pick all the rubish up from the comp site the next day, but anyway, its always an enjoyable weekend.

Arh Good to see, i would actually like to see some sort of discounted Entry fee for Competitors and Spectators who volunteer to stay behind and help clean and pack up.

Now this is a good idea, i think it would help get WE Rock back to what it was last year, a bit more of a help your mates type of comp.
