I have had SOA and a pretty psycho looking ute chop for a year now. Been driving around all the popular suburbs of Sydney -- been followed, passed, RBT'd, followed some more, staired-down, etc etc by dozens and dozens of cops. Never once been questioned or stopped. All tires are covered, and mud flaps comply. I did invest in a $700 eng cert just in case though. Apart from 35z on 8x15's, it is pretty legit I think. Might be a different story in a bad accident though -- but as someone mentioned elsewhere -- thats an entirely different kettle of fish.

Mate here in wollongong has sprung over at least 10 different cruisers. Only know of about 2 of them getting stopped/harrased. Most of them are fully engineered in NSW. But with all the new bull sh ii t laws supposedly coming in to place regarding lifted 4x4s etc, I would engineer it as soon as possible. Regardless if you think it might be okay to drive around it would only take running into or over someone to really put you in the shit. Also just thinking about the reply about SOA being illegal in Qld, I really dont think it would be a good idea to drive around in something like that. Just forget about the BIG look and throw in some lockers and some good rubber and drive past all the tall SOA trucks that have fallen over.
