Tyre selection
Went 4x4ing today borowed some 35x10.5 extreme trekers to see how they fitted under the car.Every were i went i struggled like all hell i still had heaps of throttel left so gearing wasnt a problem.Left in disgust drove home changed back to 33x13.5x16 maxxis mudzillas drove the same spots i couldnt get up after floging the piss out of my car only to find the mudzillas idled up with little to no wheel spin has any body else tried these tyres ,in all honesty they would not have out performed my bfg allterrains.
Re: sure????
They are if your on rock but thats about all there good for.The side walls tare clean out and the tread gets cut to shreads but at 12 pound they grip allright, twice as good as a centerpeide.Bunyip wrote:your bfg allterains must be pretty impresive

I had my fresh 34" JT's out for the first time on the weekend. Was pretty upset to see an un-locked, 33" claw'd bundy drive away from my double locked troopy That was up strickland spur - wet rock.
I got all the way up easy, but not as smoothly as the (unlocked) cars with the claws and pro-comps. Other simex drivers shared my sentiments.

Tetanus rolling on 37's
jt's
I run 34 JT'S aswell and often go wheeling with mate's that run claw's/mtr's and found the difference is what pressure to run.
radial claw's bag the sidwalls nicely at 18psi same goes with mtr's
I run 9psi in the simex JT'S and they still dont bag as much as a radial tyre but mould nicely
cut a long story short no radial is going to be as durable as a bias ply
its all about what you want
E.G. a good allrounder radial claw's/mtr's/bfg's
a good comp tyre bias claw's/simex/swamper!!!!
my suggestion to those people having traction problems with bias ply let more pressure out!!!!!!!
how many comp truck's are using radial tyre's

I'll admit i was running 18psi, so not ideal for rock. Think there was more to it than the pressure though.

i have bias claws and i went out on the weekend going up very steep rock hills going through mud and everything and i ran 36psi all day unlocked and i was very impressed with them, slipped on rocks abit on steep hills but wasnt surprissed as the pressure was very high
next time ill air down to 15psi or so and see what they are like
