1.3NT T/F case in to 1.0NT

Post by 84ZOOKSTA »

I am getting a 1.3 narrow track Transfer case and was just wondering if it would bolt straight in to a 1.0 Narrow track without having to change anything.

I have searched but could not find any info on this conversion.

Hookers are like bowling balls, You pick them up, put your fingers in them, then throw them in the gutter and they come back for more.

Depending what version of 1L case you had. If you had a 4wd light then it should be a straight swap besided the drive flanges.

why would you do this? does it make 4th more of a 5th? do only early 1 ltr zooks have no light and how does this make life hard for the conversion

yes, only early ones have the light.
shafts are smaller and thus you can't change over the flanges.
early ones don't suit after market gears, either.
You can use half a 1.3 and half a 1.0 yokes to adapt, tho.

You are right with the rockhoppers. they are already in this case and i have heard conflicting stories about putting rockhoppers in to the 1litre transfer cases.

Some say it can be done and others say only series 1's and you have to utilise the origional input shaft and some say not at all.

I have taken the easy option and the one that i know is going to work.

if your 1lt case has the 4wd light which you said it did then the hoppers should fit fine as i believe its the same case as the 1.3l except for internals. But if the hoppers are already in a case its easier and less messy to just swap the cases. You'll love the hoppers btw...difference off road is unbelievable...couldnt do without mine now.

Well the new case is in with the series 3's. I did have to change over the Flanges and the hand break drum as the flanges on my car were smaller than the one on this new box.

I also just went for a quick spin and WOW. How Good are rockhoppers i am shocked at how low it is in low. I could not believe how well it crawls now and it has put my speedo almost back to purfect, now the speedo (High Range) read about 3-5% higher than the speed i am actually doing but is beter than the 10% lower like it use to.

BTW Does any one know what the Oil volume is (How much it holds) in the T/F case?

Thanks to all

Cool. i have the service manual for the SJ410 and it says 0.7 i was just wondering if the 1.3 case was any different. As It looks the same i am confident it holds the same amount of oil.

I'm glad the case turned up today and you got it in easily. Now you can give them a good test on the weekend.
