is it lega in you area to fit a 60% larger capacity engine?

do a bit of searching on this forum, read the bibles, and then ask some questions mate, theres an awful lot of info posted already on such conversions.

have a look at Gutless' posts, as he has done an interesting conversion recently

please explain 'cost effective'.......

If you have a budget, tell us how much you are prepared to spend o the conversion, and how much of the work you are willing, or able to do yourself. This will give us somewhere to start when handing out advise.

I personally have fitted a 1.6 EFI vit motor AND gearbox/ transfer to a 1 litre sierra. It is a very involved conversion with a fair bit of fabrication involved. (cost $2k )

I have also fitted a 3.8V6 and auto to a 1 litre ute. ( don't even think about it  ) (cost $3K)

And my latest conversion is a M13a DOHC EFI jimny motor and gearbox into a coily sierra. Everything works, I just have to wire in a check engine light before I can get ignition :bad-words: (cost $1.2K)

Tell us all a little more about your budget and what you are trying to acheive by doing an engine swap and maybe we can help a little more.

I love my little suzi and want to make a project out of her
I should be able to do most of the mec work but have no experance in changing gear boxs or the drive train. My old man is handy with a welder and i have 2 mate's who are boilermakers (Stew builds the best bike traliers i have ever seen)so should be able to cover most fabs.
willing to spend up to 2k

i like your suzi (gutless)its sort of the look i want when all done .
i also priced a bolt on 3 inch lift kit today from usa 4 x 4 for 1.2k comes with shocks springs bushes the lot .what do you think

I hope this is not seen as highjacking corza's thread,

I an considering a G13bb (Jimny) for my 85 Sierra. I rang up for quotes for a complete engine, loom, computer etc and I am getting quotes in the high $2XXX. For example $2900 for G13bb from SUZI 4 (Aust Jimny not import). This seems a lot higher than other people have got theirs for.

I use my Seirra mainly as a recovery vehicle for hanggliding, therefore a lot of highway driving with lowrange used once or twice a week to get up to some mountain launch. For my purposes would I just be better off in rebuilding the current donk, 300,000+km?

Fuel economy is my number one priority, I get my kicks out of flying.
