Oil leaking near exhaust header

Post by karmic »

Evening all,

my poor sierra (1.6L-8v-spi) has a slight oil leak between
number 3+4 spark plugs near the exhaust header bolt as below.

Just wondering if I need to be concerned with it, as the engine now sounds a bit like a combi van from inside the cab. I'm guessing exhaust fumes are leaking where the oil is coming from and so making the combi van putt-putt-putt noises. Around the same time this happened I did overfill the oil by maybe half a litre, but I've since drained it and put fresh oil in at the correct amount. The rear of the exhaust does rattle a lot lately (it hits the towbar mount and sounds like a stuffed diff!) so maybe its got a slight crack or something back up near the header ?

Its lost a little power as well, but I figure thats because the temp guage doesnt even get up to 1/4 and so the engine stays around 1500rpm and is running a bit rich.
