HILUX INTERCOOLER

Post by 10seclux »

Can anyone tell me what intercooler would suit a 2.8TD Hilux LN106 and what have people put on there vehicles like off a import car or off another 4wd or if a top mount is better ect. All replies would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Top mount intercoolers are not a good option. Unless they have a fan or something equivelent to force air through them they just are a solar panel.
Just look at any one upgrading their WRX for power, one of the first things on the list is to front mount the cooler.
Besides you may as well use the air going into your radiator for good use.

there are pro's and cons for top and front mount ;) , speaking from experience, i drive a turboed luxy witch a i fitted a late model pajero intercooler topmount stlye, tops mounts get heat soak in some slow going areas of driving, traffic jams slow crawling 4x4, on the highway its fine. For the slow stuff the PAJ cooler comes stock with a thermo fan which is great.

have fun fitting it, its fairly easy with some no how

tho when your crawling, your turbo on your 2.8 wont be putting out much boost at all...

im going to be keeping the topmount cooler on the prado motor when it goes into the lux :D
