80 seires max power from turbo's

Post by known 2 »

hey guys i've been searching around about this stuff for a bit now and i think i have an answer, with a safari turbo intercooler kit and deisel gas kit on my 1hz it should produce about 170kw-185kw and about 540nm

thats with a 60% increase with turbo and 20% increase from gas not to mention better economy.

what i'd like to know is some power outputs from other cruzer drivers wether it be a 1hz or 1hdt/1hd,fte

so far i've heard 150hp at the wheels can be acheevd , anyone else?

You are looking for trouble....the head will crack from the temp in the combustion chamber....IF you want to go fast, sell the motor and buy a hdt or even better a hdft...or even better a std 4.5.
165 max from a hz has been floated round b4...
My 4.5 turbo had 240/540....and wow it didnt go like a cruiser....more like a cruise missile :)

In reality your 185 kw will achievable but requires a lot of work.

Standard 1hz have aprrox 50-60 kw at the wheels, 1hdt have around 70-80, ihdfte have 100rwkw.

Turbo 1hz runs at around 75-90 rwkw and are reliable.

More power needs more fuel and air, more fuel is more heat, not monitoring it will end in disaster.

However that amount of power can be achieved, it will just take deep pockets.

Hope this helps

i'm runnin 16psi and have a 400mmx700mmx55mm front mount and i can pull away from my mates intercooled 1hdfte on 33's and thats when i'm on 36's. it's a turbo from mtq in laverton. i think they're a mitsubishi turbo when all the other kits are garretts. do not have a dyno readout but would be suprised if i was under 170kw flywheel. has been turbo'd for about 6 years and 180k no dramas. can get hot under load in summer though :x another mate did it to a 100 series and it cracked pistons but he was runnin 22 psi. apparently the 100 series 1hz's have differant heads and get hot spots and i think the pistons are lighter too.

a 1hz running 22psi??? I reckon any standard diesel motor will blow at 22psi.
