xj and tj factory tyres sizes (placards)

Post by Nick B »

I would like to know what the largest sizes anyone one has actualy seen on an XJ and TJ tyre placard when the dealer sells the vehichle it must have one to state what the tyre size that they have or are selling it with.
I have recently seen or heard someone say some tj's have been sold with 31's have any xj's had the same treatment as I may have to buy an Xj and put it on gas as the gas kits for a tj may need the back seat removed which isn't gunna happen.

So please post away

31's wont fit on a stock XJ and I've never heard of any being sold new with anything bigger than a 225/75/15 or the equivalent 16.

this is correct, largest factory rubber is 29", 31" you will need at min 4" lift and if your going to run without a sway bar offroad will need a bit more room in the front.

You can gain more room on a stock front end though by moving the flares 2.5" up the guard and retro fitting the indicator higher also.

Have a look at that pic, the red line shows where it would have been factory.
