I did toy with making portals in the same way that Bill made his, but decided in the end that it is way too much work. Front salisbury
There is a 4th. option which nobody has mentioned. The Northern Irish police built an armoured version of the stage 1 v8 called the Simba. This had front and rear salisbury's on leaf springs, but 6'' wider.(same as coil axles). These had 1ton brakes all round and stage 1 C. V. joints. I know because I've got 2 pairs of them! BTW they have 4.7 diffs.
