Cheap Diesel Alternator upgardes
Hi all , i have a 2h 60 series cruiser and am looking at upgrading the alternator, preferably with 1 easily obtainable from the wreckers for cheapish, but obviously being diesel i need the vacuum pump on the back of the alternator, has anyone done anything like this or have any suggestions?

Late model 75 1HZ models have a 95amp alt... vacumm pump is on the front however, but you could see if the 1HZ vacumm lines would fit... make some measurements/cardboard template and go walking at the wreckers to see if the alt brackets and lines will match up...
You can also chase up an electronic vacumm pump of an 80's model chrysler, and do away with the vacumm pump and custom mount any alt you want

Other cruiser alternators (1hz etc) are easy upgrade paths - replacing the B+ line is also a good idea if adding tons of current. Although "cheap" and "toyota diesel alternator" usually do not go together in the same sentance.
Call Auto Electrics Australia at Archerfield - they have a full range of replacement and aftermarket alternators for diesels, quite often they are cheaper than a wrecked or rebuilt unit.

If it's worth doing - it's worth doing to excess ...
