G'day all, I'm after a bit of help here
1. can somebody tell me precise measurement of chassis rail spacing on gq front end c-c. I am building a new bullbar and i suspect that chassis is slightly out of alignment or old bar is as bolt holes are not 100% true.
2. Need a new viscous fan clutch for tb42e engine. I have read somewhere it is advisable to use a GU clutch. Is because they are better than gq or just newer if purchasing 2nd hand? Can anyone suggest anything better aside from thermos

If going this option, you will also need to replace the fan blade though as the petrol and diesel ones have different mounting to the hub.
Thanks BIG GQ for the details of chassis. Do you, or anyone else for that matter have a prefered mounting type for bullbars.
I currently have an ARB winch bar to suit 2" lift which will be for sale soon. I don't think i will replicate their mounting type. I had in mind something that sleeves inside the chassis rails and has ht bolts running through crush tubes to the other side, and tied c-c with angle or similar for additional strength.

It is 631mm from inside to inside to be exact. I've got the above dimensions in a different format at home that I'll try post up tonight so that they are viewable.

this is correct, i used a TD42 viscous hub on my TB42, but do remember id you are going down the route, you need to also buy the fan as wells, the fans are pretty much the same, but they have different mounts (as in FAN to viscous hub mounts)of4x4 wrote:I'm no expertGQ Bear wrote:G'day all, I'm after a bit of help here

I rang a reputable 4x4 wreckers in Melbourne and was advised not to use TD42 viscous clutch or any other 2nd hand vc as they're never right when you pull 'em apart and re-oil them. His suggestion, new Borg-Warner one for $145, $110 for fan if needed.
Any thoughts on this??
