Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie to this site as well as the world of 4WD's. I purchased a 94 GQ(RX) Diesel with aftermarket turbo, auto, 180k on the clock, 6 months ago and have been more happier that a pig in s**t. After some minor repairs(replace exhaust manifold nuts and bolts, front wheel bearings replaced, touch wood, that's it so far. I have searched this site for info on installing lights in the blank tail lights. I found info on the GU but can these instructions be applied to my GQ Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If so, all I did was drilled a hole in the back of the housing and filed a couple of notches to take the locking pins on the globe fitting. The most time consuming part was tapping into the brake & tail light wires etc and running them up to the new globe holders.
I am doing it differently...I purchased a set of replica early GQ lights which will replace the dummy lights.
Although the dummy ones look smart compared to the tri colours at least the tri colours will give you double the brake and indicator appearance, if that is what you are after.
The dummy lights don't seem to be all that bright IMO as there is no silver reflective quality within the light housing.
The dummy lights are worth a lot of money to panel beaters as they can only fit geniune replacement lenses to crash repairs. So I wouldn't be buggarising around with them. Just put them aside and sell them on ebay when you get rid of the GQ.

I know what you mean about the price. I had to replace one and it cost me $135! I have also converted the reverse lights to indicators with orange globes and fitted different reverse lights. I'm going to cut open my broken light and see if I can fit a reflector to it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
