Hi all. What are the most common places that these motors have oil leak problems. And is there much involved in fixing them?
Thanks

Hilux 2.8D oil leaks

myns done 285 now and doesnt drip a drop of oil from anywhere in the motor, The only place that I know of is from the crank seal behind timing case cover the other is from the hose thats runs from the alternator to the engine block with banjo fittings either end, they some times get a bit of weeping at either end but have never seen one piss out, other than that I think most toyota's are pretty good in that sense. The seal in the 5L's is more of a problem as the crank needs to be removed to get the seal fixed properly. Either job is not a major one the alternator one is a piece of piss to do. Regards Steve M
Ditto to Millers1. Mine's got 465000kms on it. Front crankshaft seal has a weep - will get fixed with next timing belt. And currently have a little oil around the alternator oil fitting.
Power Steering boxes tend to piss fluid out if the seals are tired and you fit an RTC damper. Cheap enough to rebuild the PS box - just a messy S__T of a job.

Hi there Mick & Sal, is this the original motor, if so do you run a turbo or not ?? Regards Steve MMick_n_Sal wrote:Ditto to Millers1. Mine's got 465000kms on it. ours leaked around the head gasket when that failed at 250,000kms- leaked small amounts of coolant into #3 and #4 cylinder, and weeped oil out of the head gasket from the head feed gallery downt he side of the motor, and i had to replace my front seal last timing belt change (300K) for about $12 from CBC- easy as anything jobby.
