Hey guys,
Just thought I would let you know of a possible opition for rear shocks for your lifted GQ/GUs.
I was sourcing a set of shocks for my race truck that would be both heavily valved and have the right length. I came across a set of Powerdown road train truck shocks, these are eye/eye shocks with an fully extended length of 780mm ( perfect for 5/6 inch lift me thinks ) as I run 4/5 inch lift I may have to use limiting straps- but at only $63 each who cares. And at that price you could carry a second set for when they boil and shait them selves.
They are avaliabe from Truckline.

I just got back from showing Cass Jones, where we compaired them to a couple of other shocks. They seemed to work really well in the vice On compression they will be fine, Rebound damperning is firm but should be ok too. Im running Koni Scania truck shocks on the front and they are great.
Anyway I will keep you informed as to the out come.

EDIT.. Just got of the phone to Cass and he in NO way endorses Powerdown shocks as the vice dyno is faulty, but said King shocks are OK

I will see the truck on thrusday Rick and I will measure them for you, they do need modifed shock towers and the coil/shock mount on the chassis needs to be die grinded out so that they dont rub on compression.

Ive Use powerdown in my Gq ute. Quite stiff in the back end. Very good handling on a 7"lift. Not sure if there the same shock daniels is talking about because these shocks retail for $250 and $150 if you can get trade. Fully extended they measure the same as a 9112 rancho and compressed 490mm Big shock.45mm bore 16mm shaft. Fit straight onto the mounts.But Usual mods to the diff housing where the bump stop hits on full compression. Im now using them front and rear on a GQ LWB offroad racer. On the front the towers have to be 170mm higher than standard because the ride height is so low and the shock 490mm long compressed. In my opinion there betta than tough dogs if you look at value for money.Not sure about life span in a OBC but a offroad race lasting 3hours of constant abuse, they last and not boil.
Daniels is going to be using his Patrol in events where there is all four wheels leaving the ground so the extra stiff shock might not be too bad, rough ride but more control at speed. He isn't looking for comfort, he bought a Nissan.
