Post by Bighazza »

Just doing some research for a V8 conversion in my 40 series

My plan is to buy an old ford with a V8 Clevo in it and transfer stuff over
If i was to use the C4 auto what transfer case would I be able to fit up to it???
Also I am on a small budget

Which tansfer case behind c4

Post by swamp »

Early rangie auto conversions were done by pulling the guts of the gearbox out of an lt95 gearboxand integral transfer case, and then adapting a c4 or bw35 to the front where the bellhousing sits.
AFAIK they modded the primary shaft and removed the lay shaft.
I once had a theory about if you could have the auto then 4spd (no clutch) then the transfer case all operational, you could get 160+ to 1 reduction.
The one thing that looks callenging is that at the front of an lt95 the oil pump drive sticks out , whish they probably cut off .
If you wanted a simple answer I probably just gave you a new headache
ciao
out of my mind, back soon.

I have seen a conversion that had an auto, and a fully operational LT95 behind that.
