Its the one in the lockless, it has 6 bolts. i've never seen one, and was on there before haultech. Anyone know?

it will be a 6 bolt then :p

appeared in uk 90's/110's in the late 80's certainly. not sure about rangies though.

not terribly uncommon, just less common than the 4 bolts. can still get recon ones fine.

i think manual boxes may have been pretty similar, but i threw mine in the bin some time ago and cant remember much of its appearance.

Never seen a 6 bolt box in oz before, maybe off a perentie ?

its on a 92 200tdi ute. could this have been the changeover? are they as strong as a 4 bolter?

When we built the lockless togother when sam brought as i ute, i though we put a 4 bolt power steering box in it.

Andy its the same box that was fitted to it when we bought it. I have heard stories of them also being fitted to rovers in South Africa. I doubt it had ever been changed from standard. It wasnt leaking so when never changed it. To be honost most people say the 4 bolt is stronger than a 3 bolt but we have twisted more 4 bolt sector shafts than 3 bolt sector shafts. I beleive the 3 bolt sector shaft is stronger. I think the main reason people say the 4 bolt is better uis because they are newer and are less likely to be leaking.

PS, I built your traction control boosters yesterday so they should ship out on Monday.

yeah, it looks physically bigger than a 3 or 4 bolt, and still isn't leaking. Its staying put until it breaks then it will be swapped with one of the 4 bolters i have laying around.
